Summer Plans [September 9th, leaving 12 official days to plan, even though the rains have started]
- Figure out how to break the habit of crossing my legs while sitting at computer desk. This to fade the darkish circle on my calf which has appeared as a result of the cut-off of blood-supply. At the very least, train myself to switch crossing sides.
Summer Plans [August 26th, leaving approx. 25 days left for execution of said plans ]
- Start drinking protein shake in mornings. A la "Circadian rhythms" book I am reading. Sounds kooky, but plausible. Protein emphasized in am, carbos in pm. Willing to give it a shot.
- Increase weight lifting set to four.
- Train for 8k race on September 8th. First check to see if this is the same race. Now it seems to have a weird name "French Dressing Jeans 8k"....Sounds suspect.
- Make tapenade recipe. It's been at least 4 years since I've made this. It consists mainly of olives, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, basil and is scrumptious
- Make a list of all the folks I'm out of contact with but would like to still count as friends. Then contact them. Email might be lame, but that's what happens.
- Go to beach at least three more times.
Summer Plans [July 28th ]
- Monitor basil plants for aphids. It may not seem so, but this
requires constant vigilance.
Last summer I made a garlic-water mixture which I sprayed on the plants. It consists of taking several cloves of peeled garlic and soaking them in a jar of water for at least a week. You then spray this on the plant. Pinching your nose is highly recommended. Particularly when you've left said mixture on balcony for a year and are stupid enough to open it up before ditching. (Recycling the jar being the motivation for this act of idiocy -- sometimes it's best just to let it go and throw stuff away.)
- Get on bicycle more often. Actually, this follows on a
previously unrecorded plan, which was to get back on bike (post
last summer's nasty accident inspiring much trepidation). That now
being accomplished -- four times and once all the way to the beach!
--I can now up the ante. Goal: bike 4 times/week.
- Run one race. A 5k even.
- Convert all of this site and former projects to xhtml.
- Plan a kick-ass hallowe'en costume. Make drawings and
everything. [View former costumes
here]
Summer Plans [July 13th ]
- A wonderful gal I know offered to teach me how to drive.
Perhaps I will take up her offer.
- Find some decent fiction to read. Criteria: something published
in this century; something with a nicely designed book jacket (it's
true, you can occasionally judge a book by it's great design);
something not recommended by anybody's list (that's a
toughie)
- Tone my triceps to peak perfection [translation: lose x
lbs]
Summer Plans [End of June]
- Fantasize about taking driving lessons. Yes, it's true. I never
got my license.
- Muster about the courage to ask some guy or gal at the gym the
technique for the chest exercise where you pull two weights
diagonally across your chest. Looks complicated.
- Eat more salad
Summer Plans [part1]
- Treatise on Buffy. Qualifications: Big Fan.
Finally saw first episode yesterday June 17th while the moon was void of course.
Read Anne Rice avidly a long time ago.
Didn't own a TV when it first aired (1997).
- Download all the web sites I can find that date from
1996.
Qualifications: Modest amount of available time this summer due to cancellation of planned show [sigh].
- Make of list of summer reads and write something eloquent like
those folks in the weekend paper. Learn how to make a strawberry
daquiri to accompany reading of tomes.
Qualifications: Never read "Remembrance of Things Past" except for some mini-excerpts in French.
Know how to make a decent gin and tonic.
